Full Life

Full Life Blog Post by Suzanne Pietro

Are you living life to its fullest? Do you ever feel like you are sleepwalking through life and going through the daily routines? There have been plenty of times that I have felt that way. I can easily get caught up in the day to day activities and run on autopilot.

Have you ever tried to work extra hard towards something to make your plans right, but you face challenge after challenge? Do you feel like you are taking all the right steps and that it shouldn’t be so difficult to follow your plans? I’ve been there before. But I’ve learned that God is first. Does God direct your path first or do you go to Him after?

Wisdom Hunters recently had a devotional called, “What do you Treasure?” It says, “Until Christ is our greatest treasure, we will struggle to make sense of our world and place within it. On the other hand, when all that we do and love flows from our union with Christ, our lives find a rooted stability and true freedom. We are liberated from finding our identity and source of hope in things we do, the people we know, or the possessions we own.”

If you put your trust in God and commit your plans to His will, that is what helps set you on the right path to living life to its fullest.

The Life Project says, “This desire to live rather than simply exist is what separates us from animals, and it is one of the many ways in which God made human beings unique. Though we were created by God to live lives that are rich and satisfying, they can only be made complete by a relationship with Him. God gave us many things which are pleasurable and which He made to enjoy, but their sole purpose was only ever to point us towards Him.”

How do you live life to its fullest?

Begin your day on a fresh, new start with prayer by trusting God’s will. Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Rest in Him as Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Commit your plans to the Lord and praise Him for His faithfulness. Trust in Him for Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Practice mindful faith in Christ each day (and especially when life feels out of your control!). That is what breaks the “sleepwalking” cycle. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

John 8:12 says, “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Start your day in prayer, trust in God’s will, commit your plans to Him, and practice mindful faith in Christ throughout your day. This is what brings life together. It points us towards God, our ultimate source for living life to its fullest.
